What counts toward the page limit
- The abstract
- All section text
- Figures, tables, side notes, marginalia
- Acknowledgments are hidden in anonymous mode but counted in camera-ready
What does NOT count
- References (after the main paper, unlimited)
- Appendices (if used; usually integrated into supplementary file)
How to use sigchi-a layout efficiently
- Put small clarifying figures in the side margin with
\marginpar. - Use callouts (margin notes) for definitions, design rationale, lateral thoughts.
- Put extensive quotes (from interviews) in side panels rather than blockquotes in the main flow.
- Reserve the main column for narrative argument; the margin for support.
